Kitty Hawk Pier Wedding :: Kristen + Greg

April 25, 2012  |  Wedding Photography

April 19, 2012 – Kristen and Greg met at a friend’s wedding and immediately hit it off. A week after, Greg traveled to Australia and called Kristen three times while he was gone and this started a relationship that ended in two best friends getting married on the beach.

The two love to travel and have been to Chile, Argentina, Brazil, BVI and many others. They knew a beach wedding on the Outer Banks would be a perfect semi-destination for their friends and family. Kristen said they wanted their wedding to be fun and flirty and knew Renee Landry would be the one to make that all happen. The polka dots, balloons and gerber daisies brought it altogether.

We loved being a part of their joyful day. Greg and Kristen are full of love for each other and everyone in their lives. It is so exciting to get to know two people on one of those days where their true colors come out and Kristen and Greg were those people that glowed and their genuine and generous souls were revealed. We know their lives are going to be filled with joy and adventure.

Niklas and Maria’s Sweden Wedding

November 30, 2011  |  Wedding Photography

Earlier this fall we had the pleasure of traveling to Sweden to photograph Niklas and Maria’s Swedish wedding. Everything about their wedding was a visual treat! Their service was held in the Stoby church that was built in the 1100s! Parked outside the church was a vintage white Jaguar that served as the perfect ride for Niklas and Maria to their reception site, which was held at an equally stunning castle outside of their village in Hässleholm. That alone would make any photographer giddy with joy but the highlight for us by far were their two adorable kids Clara and Emma. The two little sisters, in matching dresses, looked like they were straight out of a Disney movie with their mom and dad serving as the beautiful king and queen. It was a fairytale day if we do say so ourselves!

A big warm thank-you to Niklas, Maria and both sides of their family for making us feel so very very welcome in their homeland. We had an incredible time and can’t wait to go back again someday!

Tack så mycket or Thank you very much!

Here is the wedding film from Alycia and Mike’s beautiful fall wedding. The film tells their love story and the video shows how amazing their whole day was. Alycia + Mike :: A Northern Virginia Vineyard Wedding

October 18, 2011  |  Wedding Photography

Oct. 8, 2011 – Alycia and Mike got married on a fall day that you wish you could bottle and save for later in the month of January. The weather was perfect for a vineyard wedding. The air was fresh and the sun glowed with it’s warm fall streghth glistening throughout the vineyard. Alycia and Mike said their vows surrounded by friends, family and a setting that wine lovers would love.

The beautiful ceremony with butterflies and all lead to a grape stomping celebration that was the perfect transition into a night filled with thoughtful speeches, a lively band that kept the dance floor filled to capacity and a photo booth that provided countless laughs.

All and all Alycia and Mike had a fall wedding that they and their guests will never forget.

Alison + Ryan’s Ceremony Timelapse

August 18, 2011  |  Wedding Films

Every time I produce a ceremony time-lapse I am always so amazed and mezmorized by a beach wedding. There is so much activity when it comes to the waves coming and going and the crowds of people that do the same. And on a day when the weather brought its own drama, its pretty awesome to see the clouds move in. We decided to move the camera throughout the day to give a different perspective on Alison and Ryan’s awesome day.

The Love Booth at Sarah + Ricky’s Wedding

August 16, 2011  |  Wedding Films

The Love Booth is always a hit at weddings but Sarah and Ricky’s guests kicked it up a notch. They ended up taking more than 4,000 images!! I love editing wedding photos the next day but I have to be honest, I dove straight into the photo booth photos to see what gems would show up. And they didn’t disappoint. Its amazing what happens in front of the camera when people have the remote! The photo booth exemplifies the energy that all of Sarah and Ricky’s guests had at their wedding. This was definitely a fun film to edit and hopefully you will have a great time watching it.

Sarah + Ricky :: An Outer Banks – Duck Woods Wedding

August 9, 2011  |  Wedding Photography

August 6, 2011 – Ricky and Sarah had an elegant country club wedding at The Duck Woods County Club on the Outer Banks. Not even a rained out ceremony could dampen the color and energy of their day.

A beautiful ceremony took place inside the country club and by the end of the “I Dos” the rain had cleared and the warm Outer Banks sun was out to greet the new husband and wife. With the last rays of light remaining Tim and I worked in tandem with Tim focusing on getting photos of Ricky and the guys and I captured portraits of Sarah and the bridesmaid. With the sun setting Ricky and Sarah made their way into the reception for what would be a night filled with non-stop dancing and photo booth madness. Proving that no matter rain or shine this was a group that came to celebrate the start to Ricky and Sarah’s love story.

Jenn spent the morning with the girls as they got pampered at Hairoics, while Tim spent the afternoon at the Hilton Inn where Ricky and his groomsmen got ready for the big day. Proving that they were great sports the men got soaked from a decent downpour for portraits under the Kitty Hawk Pier before making their way to the county club for the wedding.

An Outer Banks Wedding :: Alison + Ryan

August 3, 2011  |  Wedding Photography

July 31, 2011 – Dramatic weather made Alison and Ryan’s wedding an exciting and memorable one. Alison, who studied film and now works at National Geographic, was the perfect bride for a wedding day that provided plenty of weather drama. Everyone was worried about the clouds but she knew that it would allow for great photos. Throughout the day Heather Clark from A Premiere Event monitored the radar that was a sea of red and green. They decided to go ahead with their beach wedding at the Kitty Hawk Pier as they planned and luckily only a few dancing drops of rain made an appearance at their ceremony. Shortly after the ceremony, it started pouring which kept us under the pier for the majority of their portraits. We decided to borrow a big blue beach umbrella and did some portraits out in the rain that perfectly captured the beauty and uniqueness of Alison and Ryan’s wedding day.

The great thing about having restrictions like rain is that it forces you to become more creative. We have been so thankful to have such amazing couples to work with like Alison and Ryan. They all have been so excited to let us do “our thing” and so accommodating when sometimes we had crazy ideas for portraits.

Here are some photos from their wedding. Click here to see their gallery on facebook and to tag yourself and others.

Rachel + JC :: An Outer Banks Wedding

August 1, 2011  |  Wedding Photography

July 29, 2011 – Rachel and JC’s wedding at the Kitty Hawk Pier last Friday was on one of the hotest days on the Outer Banks I can remember – 108 degrees with the heat index. Amazingly enough, they were calm and cool all day. Lucky for us we were able to utilize the Kitty Hawk Pier as a refuge from the sun during portraits.

Their love story – Rachel grew up in Virginia and NY and JC grew up in Montana. Work brought them both to Hampton Roads where they sat 10 feet from each other. The Outer Banks was the perfect place to bring together all of their friends and family. They are beautiful people inside and out and that was reflected by all of the people that celebrated with them.

We love when we are given extra time for portraits and Rachel and JC even took some time during their reception to make some beautiful images when the light was amazing – just as the sun was setting. As usual, The Embellishers helped to make a beautiful wedding and the Kitty Hawk Pier House made for a great reception.

Here is a sampling from their beautiful wedding. Feel free to tag yourself and others here in their Facebook gallery.
